Service provider

Themis is provided by Taavi Varb (an adult natural person acting within the student company Themis and JA Estonia activity licence no. 7566), address Nõmme tee 3-1, 11315 Tallinn, email info@ofthemis.ee ("we"). Themis was developed in Junior Achievement Estonia's student company programme (student company Themis, JA Estonia activity licence no. 7566); the service provider and contracting party is the adult named above.

1. Accepting the terms

By creating an account or using the Themis mobile app or its web version (together "the App"), you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the App.

2. What Themis is

Themis provides information about Estonian and European Union law, personalised based on the data you provide (for personal use: age, place of residence and chosen topics; for work use: fields of work, place of residence and chosen topics), and notifies you when a law that concerns you is added to the App or its content changes.

Themis provides legal information, not legal advice. The content comes from Riigi Teataja (the Estonian official gazette) and EUR-Lex and links directly to them. English summaries are translations of the Estonian summaries. Nothing in the App should be treated as a substitute for advice from a licensed lawyer about your particular situation. Information in work mode is general and does not take into account the specifics of your company or industry; it does not replace legal advice or compliance assessment for your business.

3. Eligibility

To create an account and use Themis, you must be at least 13 years old, in line with § 8 of the Personal Data Protection Act, which sets this age as the age of consent for information society services. If the birth date you enter when setting up your profile shows that you are younger than 13, your account is deleted immediately and you cannot use the App.

If you are under 18, you confirm that your legal representative (e.g. a parent) knows about your use of Themis and agrees to it. A paid subscription requires the legal representative's consent (see section 6).

4. Your account

5. Company accounts

In work mode you can join your employer's company account by entering a company code from your employer. The terms of a company account (e.g. number of seats and validity) are agreed separately between us and the company. The company does not see your data or what you view in the App — it is only told how many people have joined. You can leave the company in your profile at any time. If the company's agreement ends, your account remains and you can keep using the App. Do not share the company code with people your employer has not intended it for.

6. Paid subscription

7. Acceptable use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the App for personal purposes and, in work mode, for your work. You may not sell, rent or sublicense the App or its content.

You agree not to:

8. Feedback and reporting mistakes

In the App you can separately:

Mistake reports and general feedback are separate channels. They help us keep the content accurate and improve the App. We do not reply to every message individually. We may use your suggestions and mistake reports to improve the App and its content free of charge and without crediting you; we process your personal data under the privacy policy.

9. About the content

Laws change, and although we try to keep the information up to date and sourced, we cannot guarantee that every summary is complete, current or error-free at all times. The source and underlying legal act are shown with every entry, so you can check the original yourself if you wish. Linked external sites (e.g. Riigi Teataja, EUR-Lex) are not run by us, and their owners' terms apply to them.

10. Changes to the App and ending the service

We keep developing the App and may add, change or remove features. If a change significantly reduces what a paid subscription includes, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel before it takes effect. If we stop providing the service, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance in the App and by email; refunds for an unused prepaid period follow the store's (Apple, Google) terms.

We provide the service during the validity of the student company's activity licence, until 1 July 2027. After that we will continue the service ourselves as an adult service provider, transfer it to another adult service provider (section 17), or end it as described in this section, giving at least 30 days' notice.

11. Intellectual property

The name "Themis", the logo, the mascot (Themis, the Greek goddess of justice) and the design of the App belong to the service provider. Texts of legal acts are not protected by copyright; when reusing texts from Riigi Teataja and EUR-Lex we follow the terms of those sources.

12. Ending your account

We may suspend or terminate your account if you seriously breach these terms (e.g. abuse the App or try to access other users' data). Before doing so we will tell you and give you a chance to stop, unless that isn't reasonable given the nature of the breach. You can stop using the App and delete your account at any time; cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google separately (see section 6).

13. No warranty

The App is provided "as is". We do not guarantee that the App will work without interruption or errors, or that all content is fully accurate at all times. This does not limit a consumer's right to a digital service that conforms to the contract or the remedies provided by law.

14. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, the service provider is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damage arising from the use of the App, including decisions made based on information in the App. Liability is not limited for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, or for harm to life, body or health (Law of Obligations Act § 106), and this section doesn't limit the rights consumers have by law.

15. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Estonian law. If you have a complaint, please write to info@ofthemis.ee first — we will try to resolve it. As a consumer you can also turn to the Consumer Disputes Committee at the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (free of charge) or to a court, including the court of your place of residence. The choice of law doesn't deprive consumers of the protection given by the mandatory rules of their country of residence.

16. Changes to the terms

We may update these terms from time to time, for example when the App or the law changes. We will announce significant changes at least 30 days in advance in the App and by email. If you don't agree with them, you can cancel your subscription and delete your account before they take effect. Minor changes (e.g. clarified wording or describing a new feature that doesn't reduce your rights) may take effect immediately. The date of the current version is shown at the top of this document.
